What makes RUKU saunas so special?

RUKU Sauna-Manufaktur offers unique innovations on the sauna market. Special features such as the iso-wood insulation, the Thermium infrared sauna, the three-chamber ventilation or the Meditherm steam generator are based on patented inventions. They give you the added durability, versatility and comfort that the name RUKU Sauna-Manufaktur stands for.

All sauna and thermium cabins from RUKU Sauna-Manufaktur are fitted with the unique isowood insulation, which does not use mineral wool. Isowood is a clever combination of wood, air and reflective foil, which reveals many advantages as an essential component of our sauna concepts: Fast and therefore energy-efficient heating saves electricity, optimum insulation keeps the heat constant for a long time. The recyclable RUKU Isoholz is resistant to temperature and moisture and is also completely harmless to people and the environment. With a clear advantage over conventional types of insulation, isowood is installed as standard in all our saunas, because we want to offer you added value in every facet - and with a 30-year guarantee on the best insulation quality.

The infrared panel heating of the RUKU-Thermium offers all the benefits of gentle infrared heat and also allows classic sauna baths at up to 80 °C. Tubular heating elements clad in the wall emit long-wave infrared radiation over a large area and conduct deep heat via the wood, thus acting directly on the body. The advantage over a classic sauna is that the air temperature is lower at the same body temperature, resulting in a higher oxygen content in the cabin. This makes a visit to the Thermium extremely pleasant and a regenerative experience.

Sauna and steam bath in one cabin? The patented solution is called Meditherm. From a mild warm air bath to a steam bath with up to 100 per cent relative humidity, everything is possible with the Meditherm steam generator. Expand your Finnish sauna into an aromatic steam bath and say goodbye to essences; you can vaporise real herbs and essential oils in the beautifully designed ceramic bowl. After an enjoyable aroma bath, the removable bowl can be easily cleaned by hand or in the dishwasher and is immediately ready for the next soothing steam experience.

The type of ventilation is important for a pleasant sauna climate as well as for the longevity of the home sauna. During the sauna session, the oxygen content in the cabin should be as high as possible, but not cool down too much. If a steam generator is also used in the wooden cabin, it should also be possible to dry it quickly after the bath. We therefore offer you a sophisticated and patented ventilation system with three chambers for our sauna solutions. The two ventilation ducts ensure a constant exchange of air and guarantee draught-free ventilation right down to the smallest corner. If necessary, the third channel is used to ventilate and dehumidify the cabin over a large area and in the shortest possible time - good for the room climate, better for the wood.

Things to know about your own sauna at home

It is perfectly possible to install a sauna in the home, but various factors should be taken into account. Firstly, the size of the home is crucial, as a minimum area is required for the installation. Ventilation must also be guaranteed to prevent mould growth. The statics of the building should also be checked to ensure that the floor can support the weight of the sauna. It is also important that there is a power connection that fulfils the necessary technical requirements. Finally, the neighbours and the house rules should also be taken into account to avoid conflicts. It is advisable to consult a specialist before purchasing to ensure a safe and compliant installation. RUKU will be happy to help you.

Daily sauna sessions can have positive effects on health by helping to relax, strengthen the immune system and improve circulation. However, it is important to consider individual factors such as your state of health and personal tolerance. Experts recommend paying attention to the body's signals and not overdoing sauna sessions. Adequate hydration is also crucial to maximise the benefits of sauna bathing. A moderate approach may be optimal and it is advisable to seek medical advice, especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition or are unsure about the frequency and duration of sauna visits.

The minimum size of a sauna depends on various factors, including the number of people who want to use it at the same time and the desired features. For private use, a floor area of around 1.5 to 2 square metres per person is often recommended. This allows sufficient freedom of movement and comfort. A small home sauna starts at around 4 square metres. Professional or public saunas are correspondingly larger to accommodate groups of people. It is important to plan the space correctly for efficient air circulation and heating. Additional space for loungers, benches and possible additional facilities such as a shower or plunge pool should also be taken into account. Safety distances from walls and ceilings must be maintained to comply with fire safety regulations and ensure even heat distribution.

Various connections are required to operate a sauna. Firstly, a power connection is required, as sauna heaters are usually operated electrically. The power of the sauna heater determines the connection requirements, with high-current connections being required for powerful heaters. A connection for a RUKU control unit can also be advantageous for controlling sauna operation. A light connection is also required for the sauna's interior lighting. For saunas with humid operation, a water connection for a vaporiser is also required. Good ventilation is also crucial, so a ventilation connection or an air circulation system should be planned. Safety aspects such as connection to a residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) should not be ignored to ensure safety. We will be happy to provide you with comprehensive advice on our sauna heaters and all the necessary connections for optimum operation of your own home sauna.
